Earthquake updates
Recent earthquake reports and source revisions, with event times kept separate from publication updates.
Recent reports, clearly timed. “New to this browser” and “Revised since last visit” describe changes since your previous visit; they do not replace the earthquake’s original time.

No reports match these filters. “New” compares against this browser’s previous visit, not a worldwide publication log.
Updates refresh every five minutes while this page is visible. Feed only: no browser notifications or background alerts. USGS may revise or remove events. Global coverage and thresholds vary; an empty list is not an all-clear.
How these updates work
“Occurred” is the original earthquake time in UTC. “USGS revised” is the source record’s update time. Source generation and rack.org download times are listed separately below the feed. New and revised badges compare event records with this browser’s saved list; a first visit establishes a baseline without labeling every historical event as new.
The M2.5+ past-week feed is fetched directly from USGS and reused for five minutes across the map and updates pages in this browser. A saved copy may remain visible for up to six hours with a warning if refreshing fails. Source generation time controls expiry too. Acknowledging updates changes only this browser’s saved baseline.
